The Second Trimester

The expectant parents on Christmas morning! Next year we will have a little bundle with us!

Baby D is just over 14 weeeks old and has passed all the first trimester tests. Dr. Michele Houston, our OBGYN (we LOVE her!) says the baby is growing on schedule and has no signs of problems - we were very relieved to hear that!!

Well, after a rough first trimester, Jilla is finally starting to feel better. The baby really kicked her butt for about 8 weeks!! But Christian took VERY good care of her while she was sick. He's going to be an amazing daddy!! Now she is sleeping much better, peeing less and the nausea has pretty much gone away. If only she can just get her energy back! Oh, and the baby still doesn't like chocolate - just like his daddy!

Jilla is just starting to show - her belly has popped out a bit and everything is getting bigger! She fought as long as she could but today we broke down and went shopping for the dreaded maternity clothes. We were pleasantly surprised at the cute options. Chris was there to provide moral support and bought Jill a frozen yogurt afterwards. (*CD's note: she barfed it up later- hopefully she has learned her lesson that chocolate is NOT an option)

So, all is well with the David family this week. We are so blessed that the baby is healthy and growing like a weed. As many of you know, we are not finding out the sex of the baby, so while we may refer to the baby as he sometimes...don't read into it. We spent the holidays spreading the good news to our families in Chicago and LA. It was awesome to be able to tell everyone in person. Jilla is so happy to be sharing this journey with her sister Jenny, who is having a baby girl in April. Here we are x-mas morning showing off our baby bumps.....Jill is just about 11 weeks along here.

Here are the stats, thus far of lil Baby D:
Age: 13 weeks 5 days (give or take)
Length: 7.05 cm or 2.78 inches
Weight: Jill says we're not allowed to mention or discuss the word "weight"
Due Date: July 19th
Astrology Sign: Cancer (on the cusp of Leo)
Early estimates for delivery: Our Perinatal Dr has set an early estimate that lil baby D will be anywhere from 6lbs to 6.6lbs at time of delivery. Jilla likes the sound of those digits....

*The baby is extremely active in the womb, every ultra-sound and screening thus far has seen a lot of movement- definitely early indications that lil Baby D has inherited some of Mom's dance moves....

As most of you are all aware now, God has blessed us with a lil dumpling of our own. Since our roots are currently nestled in the red Georgia clay and we have so many family and friends from the Midwest to LA to update and share our bundle of joy, we have created this blog site to keep ya' all up to speed and to essentially cut down on the phone bills. (We hear blogs are recession proof?) It's a unique way for all of you to become a small part of his/her life all the way up until you get to greet the little one in person!
