Bend it Like Beckham!

Just a short posting to report that I am growing a miniature David Beckham in my belly! Last night little Baby D's kicks were so hard I was sure he would pop through my skin at any moment. So Christian and I stared at my bare belly for a few seconds and pow....we could see it move! It was the most amazing moment in the pregnancy so far just because it makes it all so real. And I am so glad Christian was there to witness it too - we just watched in amazement for a few minutes while our baby played a soccer game inside me. I think he takes after his Uncle Jess!

This kid barely weighs a pound and is already so strong. I can only imagine what I am in for as it gets bigger. There ain't a lot of room in my 5'1 frame for this kid to live :) But, I am just so relieved that the baby will play soccer like mom instead of baseball like dad. Mommy doesn't like watching baseball!

XOXO

Girl Scout Cookies are here....it must be Spring!

Here I am at at 21 Weeks. As you can clearly see my belly has really popped out. It's become quite a conversation piece for strangers and everyone seems to be much nicer to me!

Well, we are now 22 weeks along and all is well in the David House. The pregnancy is progressing nicely and I am feeling great! The second trimester has definitely been better that the first! Spring has sprung which means sunny skies, longer days and of course - Girl Scout Cookies. Gotta love the Thin Mints!

The baby continues to be very active and the little kicks have become big kicks. I love my evening play time with the baby - I sit for about 30 minutes after dinner with my hand on my belly and the baby just goes to town in my tummy. I am still in awe of this little person having a ball inside of me.

The past few weeks have been very busy for us but it has all been fun. I spent last weekend in SoCal for my sisters baby shower. My mom and I hosted a beautiful shower for Jen with lots of pink decor in honor of little Marseille. Jen and Obed are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family. Here are a few pictures from the shower at Grandma Kathy's...

Jenny was pretty in Pink in honor of her baby girl! She looked absolutely beautiful that day!

We placed baby pictures of Jen and Obed all over the house. My mom says she was the sweetest baby in the world. Hmm...what does that say about me and Jess?

The Sandoval Girls baby bump face-off! I am 21 weeks here and Jen is about 35 weeks. I hope I look as fantastic as she does when I am that far along.

Grandma Kathy and her preggo girls! She is so thrilled to be a new grandma times 2 in the same year! But we still need to figure out a name for her. Glamma just won't do! But I do think she's too hot for Grandma!

Jenny and the girls - Auntie Marina, Grandma Kathy, Auntie Jill, Auntie Kasey, Grammy Delora and Auntie Melanie. These babies have such large wonderful families to love them!

On Sunday I headed for the beach to have brunch with all of my girlfriends. It was a sunny, gorgeous day in Huntington Beach and we had so much fun laughing about old times. Days like that make me want to move back and raise a little beach baby! Later that night Jess and Donna made a great birthday dinner for mom and I followed with a Paula Dean dessert - complete with 2 sticks of butter and an entire box of powdered sugar. Gotta love Paula!! Baby D couldn't get enough!
Ahhh....a gorgeous day in Huntington Beach, CA! I can't believe I used to live there.
Hanging with Baby D's future BFF Kendall Ava, Lisa and Tony's little girl. She's such a doll.
All my West Coast girls after brunch - Julie, Lisa, Arvena, Patricia and me. I was sad I didn't get pictures with Tiffany and Chrissy too.
Me and Mom striking a pose near her rose garden. She's such a loving and generous person. I loved spending time with her all weekend.
Family fun in mom's kitchen while Jess cooks up a storm!

Back in Atlanta we started prepping the nursery for Baby D. We picked up our bedding and shopped for paint and curtains. There's so much more to do! I finally registered at Babies R Us. Who knew such a tiny baby needed so much big stuff! But my dear friend Kate and her mom Barbara helped me through it which was awesome - they made is so easy since they are fresh with knowledge from caring for my boyfriend Grant who was born in December. It's worth noting that while I was registering Christian was at a bar watching the NCAA Tournament :)

That's all for now. For the next few weeks we are just going to keep working on the nursery, eating GS Cookies and watching my belly grow!

Until next time...

Strange things AFOOT in Peachtree Corners.....

Mom at 20 weeks. It's snowing in Georgia? In March?! Lil Baby D gets his first snowfall in the Spring(?) Not pictured is Dad, he's working up a snowball.....

Also not pictured- a snow shovel. When are you coming? Isn't this "your" job??

Hello, Lil One.....
Yes, it's snowing in Atlanta.....easily one of the largest snowfalls (4" and counting) we've ever had in the 7 years we've been here and we are officially into March, go figure?! We are 20 days away from the first day of Spring and Momma Jill is entering her 20th week....maybe this means you'll be involved in winter sports??...(Dad's note: Mom does not enjoy snow, be lucky your dad is from the Midwest- I've got skills in hand-to-
snow combat and I can rock a sled- Mommy only knows sun tan lotion)

Lil Baby D, you had your 2nd major ultrasound on Monday- the full anatomy scan. Dr. Allen, our Perinatal Doc, gave you 2 thumbs up. You are now close to 6" in length and you weigh approx 11oz (normal range is 8oz- all indications are that the extra weight is from the head- the Fladung gene seems to be emerging- Good luck to mommy....) Everything is forming as it should- all 3 major segments of the brain, your spine, internal organs, bones, hands and feet- all on schedule.

Week 19 Ultrasound. Lil Baby D in a rare moment of staying still, he continues to be very active in Mommy's belly...but like mommy, always ready for a good photo op. Y

While you continue to amaze Mom and Dad with your every improvement and rapid growth at each ultrasound, there is one overwhelming characteristic that has become readily apparent; YOUR FEET. You seem to be taking after your Mother when it comes to appendages- as you seem to be forming these rabbit-like feet- with long skinny toes as well as what looks like long skinny fingers. It makes us crack up everytime we look at the image! It's all starting to make sense- when you are very active your kicks are so strong! In fact Dad was able to feel you kicking for the very first time on Wednesday...it was so surreal....your Dad will never forget it!

Week 19 Ultrasound. The next David Beckham or possibly Lou "the Toe" Groza? Time will tell...but we think this may easily be our most favorite ultrasound to date....
With the long feet and fingers (a Barber family trait for the women), Mom is now starting to think that maybe, just maybe you are a girl! Dad is still thinking boy, as witnessed by his recent credit limit increase at Dick's Sporting Goods. Either way we anxiously await your arrival- we are at the half-way point and we couldn't be more excited!

All our love,

LBD's Parents
