Lil Baby D-
Your arrival to 5902 Spalding Park Place is imminent, and since I have not posted anything in awhile (trust me, Mom has made a few references to the fact) I wanted to send you an open letter from your Dad.....
Of course the day we found out you were coming was also the day that Barack Obama was elected as our 44th President- pretty historic day to say the least! I'll never forget the first time I felt you in mommy's tummy- and it was only week 22. Needless to say you have not slowed down since. You are definitely going to be an active baby! What does that mean? Will you be an athlete, or maybe more like a gymnast or as Mommy hopes- a dancer? *Side note- if Mommy could "do it all over again" she'd be on Broadway- so good luck, kid if you show any signs of possessing any sort of musical or dancing talent- I see many recitals in your future. There are so many more questions that race thru my head everyday about you....
If you're a boy- what jersey # will you wear? Will you play infield and be a lead-off singles hitter like your Dad? Will Mom actually come to any of our baseball games? How much fun will it be to crack jokes and make fart noises together?! How many times we will get reprimanded by Mom for "roughhousing" inside the house? How soon till we break something of value? How many times will I have to take you to the emergency room for stitches and concussions? How soon till we start comparing battle scars? How amazing will it be to go with Papa to our first Brown's game? And most of all- when you look up at me, will I be the hero to you that my Dad is to me?
If you're a girl- what will be my pet nickname for you? Will I ever figure out how to "do your hair"? Will Saturday's be "our day"- will we go to the grocery store and run the weekend errands together? Will we work out a plan to hide all the things from Mommy that I buy you? How many times will you and Mommy roll your eyes at me (in unison) after I break into a goofy song or do a lil dance to try and embarrass you? How amazing will it be when I get to hold you and Mommy's hand at the same time? Will I be the luckiest guy in the whole world?!
And most of all will you run to me when you're scared....will you wrap your arms tight around my neck when you need to feel safe?
I simply cannot wait to have all of these questions answered.....right next to marrying your gorgeous Mom, your arrival will resonate as one of the pinnacles of my own life and hearing you call me Dad will be my life's greatest joy!
God will always have you in his hands, but soon he will bless Mommy & me with your arrival and in a few days you will be in our arms and forever in our hearts...
I can't wait......
Love,
Your Dad
Just a happy little family making our way through life, marriage and parenthood...with lots of love and laughter.

Last Week...we hope!
BIG MAMA at 39 Weeks. I still can't get over that belly. The baby has grown so big and strong that it's little feet kick out so far. We actually felt little toes on my tummy for a few seconds. That was the coolest thing ever!
Well folks, we are finally in our last week of pregnancy. Our official due date is this Sunday, July 19, but it could really happen at any time. I have been having a lot of contractions but not enough to rush off to the maternity ward. But definitely enough to get Christian and I very excited about the days ahead. Our baby will finally greet the world!
Knowing that we are in for a few months of craziness and sleepless nights, we took the weekend to relax and enjoy ourselves. We literally just chilled. We slept in, hung out at Caribou, took long naps, had dinner with friends and watched three movies....something tells me we won't be seeing many of them for a while :) It was an awesome weekend of spending time together but the baby was never far from our minds. We are so ready for our party of two to become a little family of three.
My last day of work is Wednesday and then I am off for 10 weeks - it'll be like summer vacation, without the vacation part :) Mimi Kathy and Papa Joey arrive from California on Friday so if we timed it right they will be here for the birth. That would be wonderful! Then Jenny, Obed and Baby Marseille arrive a week later followed by Gigi and Papa from Chicago. We're so blessed that oour families can be here to share this experience with us. It's going to be an amazing three weeks filled with love, joy and excitement.
Hopefully we'll have some news to share on our next post. Keep us in your prayers...

Stylin Baby!
Is it a boy or a girl? Either way we are covered for the trip home from the hospital. I picked out a sweet little girls outfit and Christian selected a rockin baby boy outfit to bring the baby home from the hospital. I'm kind of hoping its a girl so she can wear the precious pink outfit. But I'm loving the rocker onesie too!
What can I say....just precious! Hopefully the baby gets dad's feet and not my rabbit thumpers!
Now that the baby is almost here, Christian and I thought it might be a good idea to wash all the baby clothes. Who knew you could have that much fun doing laundry?! We were fighting over who got to fold the little onesies and jammies. We would just hold them up in awe that we were actually going to have a something so small to fit in them. We couldn't stop smiling and laughing. Then reality set in and I realized that in a few months we will be fighting over who HAS to do the laundry. Oh well, we'll enjoy these sweet little moments while we can.
We went to the OBGYN on Thursday and the doctor told us that Baby D is doing great...still lots of activity and plenty of amniotic fluid for the little one to move around in. Hmmm, sounds like the baby is pretty comfy in there and in no hurry to come out. That's ok with me...since mimi and papa are coming next Friday it would be nice if they were here for the birth. But you never can plan these things. We'll see what the next week brings...
As you can see, lots of white, cream, green and yellow. I cannot wait to find out what we are having so I can do some damage at Baby Gap!
Hopefully the baby doesn't have a big butt like mom so he or she can fit into these adorable polka-dot-pants. Enjoy them while you can Baby D - big bootie adults never wear dots!
The smallest shirt on the planet!
What can I say....just precious! Hopefully the baby gets dad's feet and not my rabbit thumpers!

The nursery is ready...we just need a baby!
Mama at 38 weeks in the finally finished nursery. All we are missing is the baby's name above the crib, but we have to wait and see about that! I love this room so much, I think I want to live there.
We hit our 38 week mark yesterday, leaving us with just 2 weeks to go! I feel like this has been the longest 9 months in recorded history. But now I can't believe we have less than 14 days until we meet Baby D! Christian and I have been working hard these past few weeks to get ready for the little one and we finally feel like we are good to go. Now that all "work" has been done we are looking forward to relaxing this coming weekend and enjoying a few moments of peace before parenthood sets in. Ahhh, can you hear the silence? We'd better enjoy it while it lasts.
So, all the gear has been purchased, the pediatrician picked, the paperwork filled out, the classes taken, the car seat installed, the house sanitized and the bags packed. Oh, and of course, the nursery is finally complete. They should write a joke about how many OCD perfectionists it take to finish a baby's nursery! Christian and I are definitely two peas in a pod when it comes to getting things right.
But, alas, we hung the last photo on the wall this weekend and breathed a huge sigh of relief. I was so worried that I wouldn't be able to pull off a gender neutral space that I liked. But I have to say, I really love this room! It's very soft, sweet and calming. We put a lot of love into it, now we just need a baby to come in and make it complete. Here are a few photos of Baby D's new home....
