Cali Baby!

What a smirk! Here's baby Jack at 13 weeks smiling at his Mimi Kathy. California looked good on my little man.

Well, we've been back from California for a week now and every day I think about how much I miss it. What a fun week of family, friends, laughter and yummy food. And the weather was spectacular all week. It was so special for Christian and I to take Baby Jack home to meet my side of the family and all of our wonderful friends. We really did make so many great memories. I could probably write a book about it, but I will spare you all the details. So I will just give you some of the highlights of Jack's first trip to the West Coast.

- Jess & Donna's wedding shower was an absolute blast. The two families really got along well.
- We took Jack to meet my dad's mom, his great grandma Molly Sandoval. I just love seeing the generations together.
- Jack went to the beach for the first time and dipped his little toes in the Pacific Ocean.
- Our little man rolled over for the first time!
- Baby Jack met pretty much everyone we know in California...which is a lot of people. He was passed around like a doll but handled it well. Get used to it baby boy!
- The cousins, Jack & Marseille got to bond. The photos are priceless.
- We spent a lot of quality time with my mom, Joey and all my brothers and sisters. I miss them more every day.
- Mimi Kathy made Jack belly laugh like we have never heard him. It was adorable.
- Mom and Dad got their In-N-Out and Rubios...maybe next year Jack.
- And last but not least, our little monkey was so amazingly great on the plane. We are so proud of our expert little traveller!
- Check out a few of our family moments below...

Jack in the airplane on the way to Cali. All the other passengers said he was the perfect little traveler!Mimi Kathy can really get Jack to belly laugh. It's the sweetest thing.

It was so special for us to take Jack to the beach - it's a huge part of who we are. This was in Laguna Beach on a gorgeous California day.

Splashing in the water with my mom and buddy. I love and cherish family time.
Mimi and Papa with Jack & Marseille in their little sun hats. Looks like M wants Jack's hat instead!

Jack's first dip in the Pacific! As soon as the water hit his little feet he started to cry. But I know he'll be a beach baby soon enough.
We kept taking pictures to get the perfect shot. Then Jack got hit by a wave...poor baby! We cracked up but he was soaked. What horrible parents we are!

Jack's was over the beach at this point.

I love this picture! Jack bonding with his Aunt Jenny.

Jack and his 6 month old cousin Marseille. They look so alike, don't they?!

Holding hands....so cute! But M looks like she wants to eat Jack.

Hanging with Grammy Delora, Uncle Adam and Aunt's Kasey and Marina. I think Jack had barfed all over his shirt so we let him go topless.

With the happy couple, Uncle Jess & soon to be Aunt Donna. Jack loved them both!
Jack got to meet his great grandma Molly Sandoval. What a special photo this is.

Heading home. Jack decided we didn't feed him fast enough at the airport so he took matters into his own hands.

I'm 3 Months Old Today!

Here I am at 13 weeks and 1 day! As you can see I am a lot bigger than my little monkey now. Mommy dressed me in orange in honor of her favorite holiday...Halloween!

We'll call this posting Mommy's Big Boy because that's what mommy has been calling me these past few weeks. It seems like everything I do is showing her just how fast I am growing. Not only am I already 3 months old, but I am developing a lot of fun new skills.

I giggle all the time but I just won't let mom and dad capture much of it on camera, so you'll just have to come over and see it for yourself. Daddy can really get me going! I've started to grab at my toys but I just can't seem to grasp and pull them yet. But I have mastered the art of pulling mom's hair.
You can catch a brief glimpse of my first giggle in the very beginning of this video.

I'm beginning to roll to the side. I can't quite get all the way over yet - mom and dad thinks it's because I am such a moose! I do love to eat and I'm pretty much at daily formula capacity so mom can't wait until I am 4 months and can try solids. Man, I can't wait to get my hands on those strained peas! But I am starting to hold myself up a little and can sit in my bumbo for a few seconds without tipping over...until my huge head pulls me down :)

I am drooling a ton and biting on my fingers which leads mom and dad to believe I am teething early. Yah, my gums kinda hurt but I'm excited to get some chompers in. All the more reason to bring on the solid foods!! And finally, at long last, I am out of the amazing swaddle! Woohoo! That thing felt like a straight jacket so I was always trying to get out of it. So I have officially left the swaddle and sleep positioner for a simple sleep sack. I am a Big Boy!

Other than that I have been getting out a lot for family fun day with mom and dad. And I really like hanging out with nanny Megan while mom is at work. I try to reserve my poopie diapers for her so mom doesn't have to do it when she gets home from a long day :) This weekend I am taking my second flight and going with the rents to California to meet my mom's entire family. I can't wait to bask in some California sunshine. I'm sure I will have plenty of funny stories to tell when I get back. Until then, here are a some cute pics of me...a few smiles out of 100 pictures.
Long and lean! Mommy estimates I am about 16.5 pounds and almost 26 inches long.
I LOVE Olive the octopus on my activity mat - she's my girlfriend and I like to flirt with her.
Big, strong boy in my bumbo!
Completely passed out in my new sleep sack. It's so comfy and warm.
How cute am I!
Chicks dig my bright blue eyes and super long eyelashes.
Seriously mom, enough pictures.
No, SERIOUSLY mom! I said enough!! (Does anyone see the irony in this picture?!)

Jack's First Flight

We like to call this one Fat & Happy! Jack looks a lot like his uncle Jess when he was a baby.

Jack is 11 weeks old now and continuing to grow like a weed (as you can see in the picture above). He's about 15 pounds and 25 inches long....the size of an average 4-6 month old. At our last check up he was 95th percentile for height and weight. You would think I added protein to his formula! I guess the boy just likes his food - I can only imagine what he will do when he gets his hands on solids.

He continues to talk to us all the time and has added small giggles to his daily routine. It's the sweetest thing. We've yet to capture it on video but hope to soon. This kid has never performed on demand. But he's pretty happy all the time and loves to get his body moving...especially when he's naked. Check it out our naked boy in action in the video at the bottom.
Since my last post, I have gone back to work. It's been a relatively easy transition since I am only in the office part time. The days I am there we have an awesome nanny named Megan. She just adores Jack - what more can you ask for. I miss my little buddy like crazy but I think it's been good for me to get back to the swing of things. It feels like our little family is settling into a nice routine.

Our other big news is that Jack took his first plane ride 2 weeks ago. We went to Chicago for his Aunt Dani & Uncle Lionel's wedding. He was a great little traveler and slept the entire flight. We took him all over Chicagoland and he was such a trooper. He got to meet all his aunts, uncles and cousins from the David family. He also got to meet his Great Grandma Lucy and all his extended family. Everyone just loved him. He fussed a bit here and there because he was out of his element, but overall he was quite the angel.

The next big travel test is the 4 hour flight to Cali which we will be taking in 2 weeks. We're looking forward to introducing baby Jack to the Barber's, the Sandoval's and all our friends. In the meantime we're just enjoying our sweet baby as he gets more and more fun to be around. We cherish our family time with him and can't wait to see what he will do next! Here are a few pictures of our fun these past two weeks.
Jack and daddy had on matching vests for the rehearsal dinner. He slept through most of the event.
Here's Jack with Christian and his sisters Melanie, Dani and Mandi.
Baby Jack with his Gigi and Great Grandma Lucy from Ohio.
Dani and her new nephew at the wedding. She was a gorgeous bride!
Jack with his cousins Carson, Samantha and Sophia.

I love this family picture, except that Jack has barf all over his shirt - that's our boy!
