I'm 9 Months Old...3 days ago!

Our little dude is 9 months old! This is such a fun age and we are having a blast with him.

Jack turned 9 months old in California! We came in last Thursday for Marseille's 1st birthday and we're still here, which is why this blog is 3 days late. We've had the most gorgeous weather and it's been so much fun visiting everyone. We have lots of great pics that we'll post when we get back on Wednesday.

This month has just flown by - I feel like I just did his 8 month blog yesterday! When he was born I wanted him to hit all his milestones early, but now I'm ready for him to slow down and stop growing so fast. He's still growing like a weed and is already in 18-24 month clothing. We have his 9 month check up next week and I am so curious to see his stats. I'm sure he's still off the charts....my left bicep can attest to that!

Jack completed his first month of school and it was good and bad. Good because he really loves it and has lots of little friends there...Davis, Jude, Mark and Gregory are his faves! He's also really come out of his shell and is quite the social butterfly. He especially loves to flirt with the ladies!! Unfortunately, he was sick for pretty much the entire month of March. He had everything they could throw at him. The worst was an ear infection that caused a fever of 105.5. Thank heavens for our on call nurses...and baby Motrin! I'm happy to say that he hasn't been sick for the past few weeks so I think the worst is over.

The funniest thing about this month is that he's become such a wild man! We call 6pm his "wild time" because he loves to wrestle. He's such a boy! He literally loves for us to throw him around and turn him upside down. And he returns the favor by head butting us and tackling us while screaming like a wild animal. It's hilarious. I just never realized how rough boys can be at such a young age, but I am honestly having so much fun with him. He's a tough kid, but still so lovable. I can't wait to see what he'll be doing this month. Until then...

Future frat boy!! He's rockin the khaki's and beer belly!

This is what it looks like when your kid's about to dive bomb you!!
Attack!!!

Look at me, I can stand!

I'm so punk rock with my spiked hair, dirty face and no pants!

First Words!

This milestone has been kind of interesting because Jack's just didn't one day come out and say something. His babbling has just progressed over time. He babbled mamamamama for the longest time but I never really felt like he was calling me mom (as much as I would have like that to be true). So, much to my dismay, I can't claim his first word to me mom.

But for the past few weeks he has clearly been saying Dada! As you know, Christian is Jack's favorite person on the planet and he's very obsessed with him. So it was only natural he say that first. In the beginning we weren't sure but then it became unmistakable - Jack would look at Christian and and say Dada or chase after him calling out Dada Dada!! It was actually really awesome for Christian and so amazing for us to hear. So for the record, Jack's official first word was DADA!!

But alas, my day has FINALLY come! On Sunday, Jack clearly called out to me and said those beautiful words that every mother longs to hear! He wanted me to pick him up so he looked at me and said Mama, clear as day! I was so happy I scooped him up and planted a big wet one on his cheeks. And he hasn't stopped since....he says it constantly as if he knows I will rush right over and pick him up. That's ok with me - I can listen to it all day.

So folks, there you have it...Dada first and Mama second. Doesn't bother me one bit - this is definitely one time that I am happy to come in second place.

Thanks Easter Bunny!

Jack's first Easter Basket. The Easter Bunny went old school with a classic wicker basket, bubbles, eggs filled with Gerber puffs and a cute bunny that shakes when you pull its tale. Poor Jack is absolutely terrified of. It's difficult to get Easter treats for an 8 month old baby boy so we just filled the big bag with toys. He preferred to eat the tissue paper.

We spent Jack's first Easter in the Windy City! I'd like to say we planned it that way, but in all honesty, it happened to coincide with the White Sox home opener that Christian attends every year with his high school friends, aka, the Chicago bohunks! But regardless, I was so happy that we were able to go and celebrate with the family. Mandi and Mike came in from NYC so the whole gang was there. We haven't all been together since Dani and Lionel's wedding in September so it was really special.

We had such a fun weekend! We stayed at the Impastato's because Aunt Melanie still has all her baby gear. And she spoiled Jack with an Easter basket loaded with all his favorite things. Jack had a blast hanging out with his cousins and they doted on him all weekend. Especially Sami - she's 1o and a great little helper. She's going to make a fabulous baby sitter in a few years!

We spent most of the weekend hanging out, eating a lot of delicious food and playing with the kiddos. On Monday when Chris went to the game, the girls (and Carson) went into the city and enjoyed a gorgeous, sunny spring day. We went to Millennium Park, had lunch in Bucktown and ended the day with cupcakes and cookies at Sweet Mandy B's - yummo! I love downtown Chicago and Dani showed us a great day!!

We also made a stop at my favorite kids boutique - Psycho Baby. I found an overpriced Motley Crue shirt and a few others I just had to get for Jack. His daddy was very proud of his future Rocker! Now I just need to get Jack some surf gear in Huntington Beach next week when we are in Cali and his summer wardrobe is complete! No southern smocks and sear sucker for this beach/city baby! Until next time...

Happy Spring! Jack doesn't like the bunny ears so you can see Christian holding his hands down. Otherwise he'd rip them off!

The David Family's first Easter photo...one of many Jack will be forced to take. As you can see he's ready to slide out of our arms.

Jack with his Aunt Dani and cousin Sophia. It was a beautiful Easter Sunday afternoon.

Jack with his Aunt Mandi and Mike (hopefully soon-to-be-uncle) who came in from Manhattan. Mike is probably the happiest guy we've ever met...can't you tell?!

All the cousins - Jack, Carson, Samantha and Sophia. This was the best picture we could get because we had a few meltdowns along the way. Jack is so long, he looks more like a 2 year old than an 8 month old.

Baby Jack with his Gigi and Papa. I love this picture! I think Jack looks a lot like his Gigi here.

In honor of the Chicago White Sox home opener, Jack wore his new Sox jersey from Aunt Melanie and the kids.

Rocker baby! I am embarrassed to admit that I spent $39 on this t-shirt but it's Christian's favorite band so I had to get it. I think he's giving his best tough guy face here. He's saying, "Hey, don't mess with my grilled cheese!"

Our fun day in downtown Chicago! We were at the Bean at Millennium Park.

Touring the city really wore Jack out! It's tough being pushed in a stroller and carried around all day.
