Dinner with Jack

Couple of dudes...having some nuggs and veggies....
Last Sunday, Jilla went to have brunch with her girlfriends after Church....so the lil J-Man and I got to spend the afternoon together.  We came back from Buckhead and Jack wasn't tired so we played outside for awhile then came in for some lunch or as Jack likes to call all meals- "dinner".  The 2 boyz feasted on only the finest in culinary cuisine- we started off with some Veggie Chips then dined on Organic Chicken Nuggets, cooked Broccoli & Carrots and water with ice cubes!  Since mommy and daddy never made it to the grocery store yet, we did not have any "real" dip for the nuggets so we improvised with a fine bottle of Dijon Mustard- yumm!  Gotta have dip for yo nuggets!  I explained to him that both of us were having the same exact food- Jack picked out the plates- "blue" for him (purple) and "blue" for daddy (orange).  I asked him where Mommy was?  He said matter of factly- "Mommy is sleeping...."

Can you tell I have food in my mouth?
So we sat down together and honestly we had one of the best bonding moments I've ever had with my young son.  We talked about Waumba Land (his sunday school) and how much Jesus loves him, we talked cars and balls, we talked about school and his friends...he giggled, I laughed...we burped loud and laughed harder.  He has become such an amazing young boy- the fact we can have meaniful conversations where we both can understand each other was simply awesome- it was a day I won't soon forget.
As we neared the end of finishing what was on our plates...I told him "let's race to see who finishes first!"  Jack grabbed a nugget and threw it into his mouth then took his fork and jammed it into his last nugget and said- "Here Daddy...eat."  Gotta love the way his mind works- he's already got his parent's competitive streak in him- god help us.

The PURPLE Plate was the Victor!
So for desert we busted about a bag of Cheetohs......and filled 2 of the same bowls with the yummy orange goodness....

I figured since I had such undivided attention......I would instruct my son on the basics of table etiquette-   such as:
EATING WITH NO HANDS OR UTENSILS.......

........LICKING THE BOWL.......

AND USING YOUR BOWL AS A HAT TO SIGNAL THAT YOUR BOWL IS INDEED EMPTY!

Overall we killed 10 Nuggets, a full serving of Broccoli & Carrots and 2 Bags of Cheetohs!!

To the victor goes the spoils of orange hands......

...but a battle of peek-a-boo was not out of the question!

So we cleaned up our dishes.....

What?! Is there something on my face?
Then we retired to the family room for a lil rough-house wrestling.....the perfect end to a perfect "dinner".....that is until.....

You Play....You Pay.

....he gave me a bloody nose.....which to me was- simply AWESOME.   Love that kid.

Baby D Part II

We're so amazingly thrilled to announce that the David Family is expecting a new baby in the fall!  Yes, Jack will be a big brother somewhere around October 4!  This is such an exciting time for us and we are so blessed to be taking this journey again.  We realize that most everyone knows by now but in this day and age, nothing is official until it's posted somewhere in cyberspace, so here it is in black and white.

I'm 14 1/2 weeks along and what a crazy few months it has been.  I've felt a lot worse this time around so the last few weeks have been rough on me and the entire family.  Christian has been amazing and has really taken charge of the house so I can rest.  And poor little Jack has had to endure mommy being sick, tired and very spacey - this peanut is literally sucking the life right out of me.

But now that I am officially out of the first trimester, I am feeling much better.  Besides being tired I'd say I'm doing pretty great now.  I haven't had any odd cravings but I have craved a LOT of Mexican food with this baby.  So, I'm thinking my Hispanic genes are dominating so I'm fully expecting a very dark baby come October - wouldn't that be a hoot!

Jack really has no idea what's going on.  But when we ask him if he wants a baby brother or baby sister he always says baby sister - could it be a sign of pink in our future?!  We're actually going to find out the sex this time so we'll be announcing that in late April.  Until then, here are a few pictures of our baby journey since January.

Here's me and my husband Grizzly Adams the morning we found out we were pregnant.  As he did with Jack he grew it out when we started trying to have a baby because for some reason he thought it would bring good luck.  I guess it worked because it only took 2 months!  I'm happy to report that he shaved it that weekend...

We like to take a snapshot of what was going on in the news the day we found out we were pregnant.  I love how the front page has the Oscar's, NFL football and Obama - 3 of my faves (I'm going to ignore the pic of Justin Bieber)!!  The day we found out about Jack, Obama was also on the cover.  Does that mean I have 2 politicians on my hands?!

Jack doesn't look so thrilled.  We're not sure if it was the fact that he now has to share our attention with a sibling or if he's mad that I made him hold a stick that I just peed on.  Poor kid...

Fast forward a few months.  Here I am at 13 weeks.  As you can see #2 definitely pops out a lot qicker than #1.  I was in maternity jeans at 10 weeks this time and I think with Jack I was able to wait until 16weeks...

Here's the little king, the ruler of our house, kicking back with a cookie and some milk.  Life is good.  But poor Jack has no idea how life is about to change in a few months...

I actually think Jack is going to be a great big brother!  It might be hard at first but he will adapt like he always does.  Yes, he's rough and tough but he's also a very sweet boy.  He's going to love this baby!  I tried forever to get a picture of him in this t-shirt but it just never happened.  Maybe, like his mommy, he secretly hates clothing with soccer balls and footballs on it.  What can I say, the kid has great taste...
