Hello faithful blog followers! I'm finally back after an unintentional 5 week hiatus. But work has slowed and my amazing hubs fixed my computer issues so I am up and running...and I have a LOT to share so let's get started. My little lady is now almost 8 1/2 months old! But before I jump into the good stuff I have to share a little bit of the bad...Lady D is sick with RSV, a respiratory virus. Aside from the sniffles she's never really been sick so this has been hard on her. And she's getting her top 2 teeth at the same time so, needless to say, she's a bit miserable. Let's hope for a speedy recovery for my angel!
But aside from that Dylan has been awesome and has changed so much and hit so many milestones this month - talking, creeping, clapping and eating to name a few! And her personality has really started to come through. For the most part she's such a happy, bubbly, playful, sweet little girl. She loves to connect, laugh and cuddle! She is just a joy to be around. But on the flip side she can be very bossy, feisty and independent. She loves to play but has no desire to be restricted to an activity center or chair. She only wants to be on the floor doing her own thing. And heaven forbid, you do something she doesn't like, she really lets you know about it - by arching her back and screaming at the top of her lungs. It's quite a treat! In so many ways she's a lot like her mama...usually pretty happy but don't cross her! I guess that quarter Latina is in her somewhere! I definitely see a few power struggles in our future.
She still prefers me to hold her all the time but her stranger danger has started to wane just a bit. She's starting to go to my mom and sister which they are delighted about. And she'll even go some other family and friends if I am not around. I couldn't be happier about this new development! She's also really starting to adore her daddy. She literally freaks out when she sees him. And much to my dismay her first word was Dada! She looks right at him and says it. It's actually very cute and I have a feeling she will be a total daddy's girl. We also think she says Jack and is starting with Mama, but we don't think they are intentional yet. Jack's first word was also Dada but at least Gavin said Mama.
There have also been a few other big milestones...the biggest being that she's almost crawling. She gets up on all fours, does a down dog and then rocks forward. But she just can't get her hands and feet to coordinate together to move forward. She actually moves backwards. It's hilarious. But she has perfected the army crawl and does some other fancy moves to get to toys that she wants. I am pretty positive that by her 9 month blog she'll be fully on the move.
And the final big one is that she's eating real food. Not just the occasional finger food...I mean full-on people food. I tried for 3 months to feed her baby food and she just never liked it. I think it has something to do with the consistency of it. So we just started giving her everything we eat and she LOVES it! She can't get enough. She currently eats chicken, rice, mac n' cheese, French toast, sandwiches, pasta, cereal bars and tons of fruit. Pretty much everything we eat in small pieces. And she's venturing into sippy cups as well. It's actually a lot easier and cheaper for me to skip the bay food stage. But it is quite messy - she's definitely not a dainty eater! And as proof of that, she's currently tipping the scales at 19 pounds.
There is so much more to share but I'll have to condense it so I don't bore you! Her favorite things right now are Jack, puffs, reading books, being outside, Elmo, dancing, sleeping, being held, being naked, her feet, touching faces, her own voice, the boys' toys, being tossed in the air and wrestling. Her least favorite things are having her nose or face wiped, bath time, getting dressed, loud noises, bibs, baby food, new teeth, being contained, camera flash, taking medicine...and sometimes Gavin.
So that's what's up with my little princess. Here are a few pictures of her this month...
Pretty in pink! Maybe I am a little biased but I really do think she looks like a little doll here...
Naked and oh so happy! I could eat her rolls with a spoon!
Gavin, AKA Underwear Head, entertaining Dylan. She seems amused enough...
The boys really love to play with her and make her smile. A few weeks ago I put away all of her baby toys and got out the toddler toys. I think the boys had more fun that she did...
A sweet moment with Gav...
And another with Jack...
She's gotten so big recently so I had to go buy her a ton of new outfits. This is one of my faves from Nordstrom. She seems to like it too...
I know this isn't a good picture but I love her new bumble bee jammies! She looks so great in bright colors like yellow...
Me and my girl! My girl who looks absolutely nothing like me! Don't you love the pink converse!
She started trying to crawl a few weeks ago...
Here she is, eyeing the remote...
Gotcha!
Either she's got amazing skills or she's just too lazy to actually hold the bottle. But she figured this one out all on her own. She does it in her stroller too...
I love French toast!
She refuses to be contained so she got herself out of her chair...
And then cried for help when she realized she was stuck...
I've tried to put her in the swings several times but she either cries or gives me this face. I'm guessing she doesn't like it...
I just love that squishy little tushy!
Dylan and a few of her besties at Natalie's 1st Birthday party! Dylan already has quite the girl posse and she loves hanging out with them, as you can see...
I seriously can't get enough of this face!
Here are a few videos I wanted to share. I will warn you they are a little long and most of the good stuff happens in the beginning. Enjoy...
In this one Dylan is learning to clap and says Dada...
Here is her Down Dog pose. I have no idea why she does this...
