Gavin James is 6 Months Old!

Our baby boy turned 6 months on Wednesday! Gavin has changed so drastically this past month.  The most noticeable change is how much he looks like Jack - they totally look like brothers now because Gav is getting lots of blonde hair.  And he looks so much like his daddy too.  Gav is definitely a David...or Fladung as Gigi would say.  He's also grown almost 2 inches and gained almost 2 lbs...he's currently 28 1/4 inches and 17 lbs, 11 oz. This keeps him in the bean pole status with 95th percentile for height and 50th for weight, which makes finding clothes pretty difficult. He's long enough for 12 month clothes but doesn't fill them out well enough because he's so skinny.

We need to get some rolls on this kid so we're fattening him up with lots of baby food! He eats 5 jars a day and loves both fruit and veggies. And we just recently starting giving him puffs so he can get used to feeding himself. So far he just gags and spits them out, but I imagine in a few weeks he will be chowing them!

As far as tricks go, he's pretty text book right now...he's rolling all over the place and loves to play on his tummy. I think he'll start scooting any day now. But he doesn't seem to want to sit up....maybe he'll wait til 7 months like Jack did. He enjoys playing with toys and absolutely loves playing with his big bro. Nobody can make Gavin laugh like Jack can. And his coos have turned into full on babbling, screaming and squealing. He'll just sit there with his toys, playing and talking up a storm for 20-30 minutes at a time.

And he's still such a dream baby - he sleeps, eats and plays right on schedule, is sleeping 12 hours at night and for the most part is the happiest baby. But I must admit that he is a bit of a mama's boy and starts crying when I hand him to other people. So we're trying to make sure he's around a lot of different people so he gets used to being without me from time to time. But I absolutely love being home with him and I don't mind if he favors me just a bit. After Jack only wanting his dad for so I long I think I am due for a little mama time with Gav!  He might as well be attached to my left hip!

Christian and I are really enjoying this time in our family's life. Things have definitely settled down for the better.  We work a lot so we make sure to spend tons of quality time with the boys. And now that they weather is great, we are always outside, at the park or doing something fun with family. We're looking forward to a great summer with our guys.  And I am so lucky that I get to be home with both of them to enjoy it all!
Here are a few pictures of little Gav Gav just being cute!

I just think this is a sweet little picture...

Scrunchy face....

Gavin LOVES to be outside.  Besides the bath, it's what calms him most when he is upset...

Peek-a-boo!

Here he is kind of sitting up.  But as you can see I am hloding his back for support...

Brotherly love...

Always a happy boy...

First time in a swing!  He wasn't overly excited as you can see but he didn't cry.  He was just cold chillin!  I think he looks so much like his daddy here...

Fat and happy after a big meal of baby food.  I had to unbutton his pants so he could be comfortable...

So Happy Together!

I'll be the first to admit that I never envisioned myself with 2 boys.  What would I do with 2 boys?!  Boys are stinky and gross!  I love pink!  So naturally, I always thought I would have tons of sweet little girls running around.  But now that I have Jack and Gavin I could never imagine a life without them.  They are everything to me and I just love them more than words could ever describe.  And it is my deepest desire that they love each other as much as I love them.  I hope they grow up as best friends and always have each other backs.

Before we had Gavin, Jack was the center of our universe so we were bracing ourselves for the inevitable firestorm of jealous tantrums and outbursts.  But they never came.  Instead, Jack has always been very sweet and kind to Gavin - he showers him with hugs and kisses, he tells him he loves him every day, he lets me know when Gavin is crying and he always greets Gav in his crib in the morning.  And in turn, Gavin thinks that Jack hung the moon.  Jack makes Gavin laugh like nobody else can and sometimes Gav sits and stares at Jack just because.  It is the most heartwarming thing for me to see my boys laughing together and loving each other.  And I often think how blessed I am that my beautiful boys get along so well.

But everyone warned me....just give it a few months....wait until Gavin takes Jack's toys....Jack will get jealous and they will fight.  And I thought it would NEVER happen, not MY BOYS!  Well, I was wrong.  For the past few weeks Jack has been getting very jealous of Gavin and all of a sudden the whining and tantrums we thought were gone are back!  And he no longer likes to share his toys with Gavin.  And when he wants our attention he will tell us to put Gavin down!  It's not horrible yet, and Christian and I are going to do our best to make sure they get along.  And for now the boys really are still cute together.  But I can see glimpses of my future with 2 active, strong willed boys playing tug-o-war with Lightening McQueen.  So before all heck breaks loose, I wanted to document the boys when they were still so happy together.

Here are a few cute videos I took last week.  I have so many more but they are too large to download.  I apologize that the first one is incredibly shaky but I was trying to tape while holding Gavin.  But I still love it!  Enjoy...

Gavin James is 5 Months Old!

Gavin James turned 5 months old on Tuesday!  So this blog is a little late, but that's the story of our lives these days. Christian and I both had a really busy month with work travel so there was a lot of juggling and craziness in the house.  So I feel like Gavin's 4th month just flew by and our little newborn is now a bouncing baby boy.  He changed so much in just a few weeks!

Case and point....when I left for Florida last week Gavin had one tooth, was sleeping on his back and was only eating rice cereal. When I got back, he had another tooth and two more on the way, he's now sleeping on his stomach and his daddy snuck some sweet potatoes into his diet....which, of course, he loved!  And this past week we've added peaches, pears and mangos.  The kid is gobbling it up and I swear I can already see the chub coming on. He LOVES all this new food.  I wonder how he'll feel when we introduce veggies?!

He also loves showing off his new tricks - rolling all over the floor, grabbing at his toys and his feet, playing with big boy toys and talking to himself out in the mirror.  He's such a happy baby and as long as he's fed and rested he's as content as can be.  I spend so much time with him since I'm working from home and I am so lucky he's such an easy baby.  Sometimes my schedule is a little crazy but he cooperates with me so I can get my work done and still have time to play with him. He's my little buddy.

So I've saved the best news for last....our little nugget if FINALLY sleeping through the night...every night!  It's been a few weeks now and it's absolute heaven!  He went from waking up 1-2 times night to sleeping 12 hours straight!  Can I just tell you how amazing it is to get a full nights sleep every night.  I forgot how important sleep was.  The energy in the house has definitely shifted and everyone is much happier.  Thanks Gav!

Here are some recent pictures of my sweet, sweet baby boy.  I definitely missed this little face while I was traveling. I certainly don't like leaving him and Jack but it's part of the job and if I have to go, I am so fortunate to have amazing friends and family who help Christian out while I'm gone.  It just makes me appreciate my hubby and boys that much more.  Life is crazy but I still feel really lucky to have what I do!

First time in the Johnnie Jumpie....

Sitting up in the Bumbo...

I love this smiling face...

More smiles...

Cold chillin watching the tube...

Check out how big he's getting!  He's still solid as a rock but I can see a few rolls starting to form...

I love my feet...

Enjoying baby food....I believe those are pears all over his face...

Happy Boy! You can really see his 2 teeth here...
