For once I am actually on time with a blog post! Gavin turned 9 months today! And it's official - he's a crawler. He was a late bloomer with his physical milestones but let me tell you, the boy is making up for it. A month ago he was barely sitting up, now he's crawling and starting to pull himself up. And he went from scooting to full on fast crawling in about 5 days. He's totally mobile which is scary. The other day I went to the closet for 30 seconds and when I came out he was in the hallway near the stairs. Definitely time to baby proof the house!
Gavin had a rough end to his eight month - in the span of about 10 days he got 4 new teeth (if your counting that's 8 total), had a growth spurt, got a double ear infection and then flew across the country which wreaked havoc on his schedule. But thankfully that's all behind him and he's his happy-go-lucky self again. I'd say he's even happier now that he is mobile. It's as if a whole new world opened up for him and he's just so excited to explore it. He literally plays for hours at a time, which is great for me because I can get so much more done now around the house. He'll just crawl around talking to his toys and laughing. Such a great kid!
He absolutely loves playing with his big bro Jack and especially loves playing with big bro's toys. He's not at all interested in the lights and sounds of his Fischer Price baby toys when he can play with Jack's cool cars and action heroes. Needless to say, the competition has begun and Jack is having to learn to share with Gavin. I'll have to give Jack a B- in the sharing department, but we're working on it. Other than that the boys actually play really well together and Gavin still loves a good wrestling match with Jack. You can tell they really love each other which is so awesome.
Gavin also loves to be outside....swimming, going to the park, being around other kids just makes him happy. And he really enjoys his bedtime reading - Elmo is his favorite character, of course. He's learning to clap and dance so we are playing lots of music in the house. And his stranger anxiety is slowly going away so I'm signing him up for a gymboree class in the fall. I think it's time for him to get out and play with other babies his own age. I can't wait for that!
Gav is pretty much over his baby food. Besides those awesome squeezers, he only wants real food now so we've been trying out everything. He'll basically eat anything we throw his way - tonigth he ate a quesadilla, pork, rice and black beans - I was very impressed. He's 21.10 lbs which is 75th percentile for weight. And his height is 30.25 inches which is 95th percentile. He's a strong baby and all of sudden has found a little temper. He's a lot like me....pretty much happy all the time but don't make him mad! I definitely see some tantrums in my future - ugg!
So that's Gav in a nutshell. I could go on and on about all the awesome things he does but I won't bore you with all those stories that only a mother thinks are cute. All I can say is that he's an amazing little dude. We're always together so he's like my sidekick. I just love him to pieces! Here are some pictures from the past few weeks (NYC pics will be in a separate blog)...

I absolutely adore his chubby little profile...
Chillin at the pool...this floater is the best $30 I ever spent! He'll sit in this for an hour while Jack plays and mommy relaxes...sort of...
Ready to crawl and cause some trouble...
I love playing with my big bro...
In the big leagues now that he can drive in the wagon with Jack! Can I just tell you that pulling 65 lbs of David boys is back breaking...
Outside in the gorgeous Orange County weather - my favorite place to be! We're so lucky to live here...
Here's Gavin on the move. This was taken a few days ago so he's already a lot faster than this....
