Yes, our little peanut turned 11 months on Tuesday and we are officially in the home stretch for his first birthday. It's CA-RAY-ZEE to think that he will be one in less than a month. And although we are in full-fledged party mode I am going to attempt to slow it down a bit and just savor the last few weeks of his baby-hood, because I definitely see toddler-hood on the horizon. Gavin is cruising all over the house, standing on his own for 10-15 seconds and walking with assistance. So I really think he'll be walking in the next month. I love when babies walk at their first birthday party so I'll be working with him on it.
And once the walking starts my little baby will be G-O-N-E! But I honestly think he will be much happier when he's walking. He basically wants to do everything that Jack does so he'll be able to keep up with his big bro when he's more mobile. He really is like Jack's shadow, especially when it comes to his toys. He doesn't even play with his own toys anymore - it's all about Jack's cars. He is obsessed with Lightening McQueen - not because he knows what it is but because it's Jack's favorite car. I think we might need to get him his own Lightening because they are constantly fighting over it. Gav certainly gives Jack a run for his money!
So this month has been the most fun, yet most challenging with Gavin. His level of cuteness has hit an all time high, but with that also came the bad stuff....when he hit 10 months he found his voice, his temper and a new found independence. Needless to say we have had some not-so-fun moments with the little guy. He loves to scream at the top of his lungs for just about any reason and he always wants to be on the floor....no matter where we are. So it's difficult to take him out, especially to restaurants. I'm hoping this stage will pass very soon or I fear I will have another temper-tantrum throwing child on my hands.
But on the flip side he is so stinking cute that the bad stuff doesn't bother us so much. He's so much fun and so playful now. He loves to play chase, hide-and-seek and peek-a-boo which makes him laugh hysterically. And his laugh just kills me. I want to eat him up! He also learned tons of new tricks like giving high-fives, waving bye-bye, talking on the phone, pointing to belly-bottons and crawling up the stairs. He's also up to about 6 words now - mama, dada, papa, ball, bye-bye and Jack, which actually sounds like Dack.
Gavin loves balls, cars, blocks, playing outside, books, throwing things, eating sweets and dancing to music. Gavin also loves to be around other kids so I've been taking him to music class and to Gymboree. He enjoys both of them so much and has a great time interacting with other children his age. Although, he can be kind of a brute! He's a little rough with the other kids - I think it's because he wrestles with Jack and Christian. So I'm going to have to work on his softer side. But he's still so sweet and loving. He's my little cuddle bug who still lets me kiss him 10,000 a day, unlike his bro. I'll actually be sad when he's walking and not attached to my hip at all times.....hmmmm, maybe not! Here are a few pics of Gav in action...
I seriously can't get enough of those chubby cheeks...and big feet!
Gav loves to ride the motorized bike we got Jack for his first birthday. Gavin is way more of a dare devil. Jack wouldn't go anywhere near it for months...
His new favorite thing is to ride the carousel at the Irvine Spectrum. It's a great outdoor shopping center so we go there often and this is the main attraction for both kiddos...
He looks like a future class bully here...
Mommy and Jack joining in on the fun...
Oh hey look, the carousel again! My dear friend Sarah was in town last weekend so we met here at the Spectrum for lunch and I made her ride - hehe! The other thing to note is Christian's hair - it's short again!! He looks so handsome with short hair!!
Look at my new trick!
Uh-oh, I got caught!
But I'm cute so I'll just smile and mom won't be mad...
The boys favorite new hiding place! Anywhere Jack goes, Gav isn't far behind...
While dad and bro wrestle it out in the yard, Gav grabs the opportunity to play with his favorite orange basketball...which happens to be Jack's. Check out that grin like he's saying, haha, it's all mine...
Music Class! I'm pretty sure Gav swiped that instrument from the poor little boy sucking his thumb...
Shake your maracas...
I think this toy is for rattling but Gavin likes to bang on it. I seriously have wild children...
Here's Gav climbing up the stairs for the first time. As you can see he was very proud of himself. This was 2 weeks ago so now he zooms up in about 5 seconds...
And just to prove how much Gavin loves the carousel...
