The Birthday Finale!

Ok, so I think I'm probably as sick of blogging about Jack's 2nd Birthday as you are reading about it.  So I will keep this post short and sweet.  But I wanted to post a few pics of Jack's final birthday gift from mommy and daddy as well as his visit with Mimi and Papa. 

For months Jack has been asking for a new bike and helmet.  We contemplated buying him a real bike with training wheels, but even though he's a big kid, he just wasn't ready for the big leagues. So after much research we purchased the Schwinn Roadster Trike!  It's the coolest little trike with chrome accents, motorcycle handles, real wheels, a bell and leather tassels.  It fits Jack perfectly and he loves riding it too. It was definitely a birthday gift home run!

After riding the trike for a bit, Jack played with Mimi and Papa before they had to go to the airport...

Then he crashed!  The super busy weekend plus an ear infection really tuckered the kid out.  I guess he had a pretty good birthday...

The Birthday Boy - Part II...The Party!

Given our hectic lives these days, we wanted an easy-breezy birthday party for Jack.  But we also wanted it to be tons of fun. So we decided on Gymboree - a little play time for the kiddos, cake, music and no clean up.  What's not to love!  Of course, it had to be CARS themed so we had Lightening McQueen and Mater decorations, cake and balloons.

Mimi and Papa made it in for the party which made it extra special. And Jack had 13 of his friends there - his best friends from school, our neighborhood gang and all of my girlfriend's kids.  Can I just say that it was the cutest group of kids ever - they were all so well-behaved and adorable.  Jack is one lucky little guy to have so many pals who love him.  I loved watching him play with everyone but it also made me sad that he will be leaving all his buddies in a few weeks.  We have been so fortunate to have made such amazing friends, all of whom we are going to miss terribly.  But that's another blog for another day.

For now, let's enjoy some fun pics of the kids celebrating Jack's 2nd Birthday.  I have to warn you that not all of these are the greatest pictures...it's not easy capturing special moments of 14 active kids!  But my neighbor Heather took some great shots with her fancy camera - I'm sure you can tell the difference...



The Birthday Boy's Busy Weekend!

I still can't believe Jack is 2 now.!  He seems more like a little boy and less like a toddler.  Here he is with his new Mac Truck - he pretty much carries this thing everywhere we go!

Before I jump into Jack's Birthday Weekend - I wanted to share his 2 year stats. The doc said it's tough to predict exactly how tall he'll be but she guessed he'll be at least between 6' to 6'2. I'm pretty sure he'll be taller than me by the 5th grade!  He's currently...38 1/2 inches tall...37 1/2 pounds...97th percentile!

So Jack is showing no signs of slowing down his growth.  But he is losing all his baby fat and is getting really lean.  He's a bean pole like his daddy, but he's still solid as a tank!  It's pretty tough to pick him up these days because my huge belly gets in the way - but I'm not really supposed to anyway so it works out ok.  But I do miss holding my baby!

Now about the birthday celebrations - since my mom and Joey are coming out this weekend we delayed his b-day party until this Saturday.  So we wanted to make sure his actual b-day weekend was full of fun....and it definitely was.  The kid played with his friends and went to parties all weekend.  He had 2 playdates with his girlfriend Ava, we had a neighborhood going away party with all his friends, then there was Jack's friend Evans birthday party at Catch Air, a BBQ with my girlfriends and their boys and then Jack got to open all his gifts from us and his Gigi and Papa.  Needless to say mom and dad were quite pooped by Sunday!  But we're so fortunate to have such awesome friends here who all have kiddos around Jack's age. Jack is very lucky little boy!

Opening all of his loot on his birthday morning - it was like Christmas.  I think his daddy bought him every CAR from both movies...

We also got him a new train table.  But we realized it would take an engineer to assemble so poor kid hasn't been able to play with it yet....

Jack is so obsessed with his CARS - this isn't even half of them.  I can't even touch them unless he needs me to move them to another room...

Jack LOVES his new guitar from Gigi and Papa.  This was on of the presents he kept asking for so he was so excited to get it...

Jack and his buddy Evan at Catch Air for Evan's 3rd Birthday.  Evan had a CARS themed party so Jack had to wear his Team McQueen t-shirt.  He'd wear it every day if he could...

I think that Christian has more fun being a kid than Jack does.  But that's what I love about my husband...



Jack is 2!

Happy 2nd Birthday Jack! 

You came into the world on July 16, 2009 at 8:21 pm.  You were a whopping 8lbs 7 oz and 21.5 inches long.  Since that day you have brought us so much love, happiness and joy.  We could never have imagined such an indescribable love!  We can't believe how much you have changed in the past 2 years - you're such a big boy now.  We look forward to many more years of celebrating birthdays with you.  Mommy and Daddy love you so much!
