Hey there blog world! Greetings from California! I feel like I need to ask forgiveness for being gone for so long....bless me father for I have sinned, it's been 5 weeks since my last blog post! But I know my cyber audience understands I have had just a little bit going on these past few weeks. And I every time I thought about blogging I just didn't know where to begin...so I would just go to bed instead.
I can honestly say this has been the craziest time in my life. Who in their right mind would move across the country with no place to live just weeks before the birth of baby #2. Apparently, we are dumb enough to attempt it and it has proven more challenging than we could have ever imagined. I'm actually glad I didn't blog before because it probably would have been a series of complaining and whining. But we have made amazing progress this week and we have resolutions to all of our issues. So now I can just tell you what's really up with the David's now that we are "settled." But with the new baby coming any day, I probably won't have time for more blogging any time soon, so this will be a long (and probably boring) one. So sit back, relax and enjoy the madness that is my life! I'm going to break it down into categories....
THE HOUSE HUNT
As you all know, we originally planned to move to the South Bay area of Los Angeles to be closer to Christian's office. But after 3 months and dozens of terrible houses viewed, we just couldn't find anything suitable and LA just never felt right to us. So we decided to look in Orange County, where we both had spent a lot of years before moving to Atlanta. In one day we found the perfect house in Irvine - a gorgeous planned community that we just love. OC is like a breath of fresh air and we knew we would be happy raising our boys here. Plus, its much closer to my family and friends...in fact I live a mile away from one of my best friends Lisa! The only downfall is that it's a bit of a commute for Christian but he says it's worth it. I think we made the right decision. I'll have to send some pictures of the house when we take some.
THE MOVE
When we boarded the plane on August 20, we had no home to live in so we planned to stay with my mom and Joey as long as needed. We never imagined it would be 4 weeks! But I have to say they were AMAZING hosts and we couldn't have asked for a better place live. And the time they got to spend with Jack was invaluable - they all grew so close! It was a little rough on Christian and me trying to juggling work, Jack, house hunting and dealing with movers....oh and prepare for a baby. But I'm happy to say that we made it! The reason we had to stay for so long was because had the worst movers ever - Bekins was terrible! I could write 20 blogs about it but basically they were over a week late with our stuff which was on 2 different trucks that arrived on 2 different days. When they finally did bring our stuff they didn't have the man power to set everything up so we had to wait for them to come back and do it. It was a 2 week process getting it all here and so much of our stuff was damaged. So we've spent the last week and half just trying to make our home comfortable enough it to bring a baby home to. I am so lucky to have an AWESOME family who helped us so much this week, especially my mom and Joey! So I think we're finally ready for this baby to come.
THE SEQUEL
I'm 39 weeks and so ready to pop. The baby has dropped and is ready to make an appearance any day...and I'm ready for him to arrive! With all the chaos I haven't had much time to rest and I'm really feeling this pregnancy a lot. But we're ready to take the focus off the moving drama and be with our new baby! When we thought we were going to be living in LA we found an OB and hospital in that area but it's 45 minutes from where we live now so logistics are a little challenging. But being so close to the due date we didn't want to switch docs so we're still planning to deliver there. So we made the decision to induce this Wednesday if the baby doesn't arrive sooner. With the long drive and planning for someone to stay with Jack for a few days, we just felt this was the best decision. So come Wednesday, we will meet our new little boy! I can already tell he's going to be a chill and agreeable child because he answered our prayers and waited until were were settled in our house before he arrived. Let's hope my theory stands true! Stay tuned for baby news! Here are a few pics of me at 36 and 37 weeks, as I refuse to document my growth any further...I'm sort of at freak show status at this point so I'd like to remember myself before I got gigantic!
JACK
Our little man as been such a trooper! Regardless of what we have been going though I know this move has been hardest on him. He's had to deal with leaving all his buddies in Atlanta (he still talks about them all the time), moving to California, moving in with my mom, being out of school for a month, then starting a new school and moving into another new home...all in a month! Now the baby is coming and it's going to rock his world. He's had a few meltdowns which are so understandable and expected, but overall he has handled it so well. And after 2 weeks of school, he is loving it and already has new friends. I am so proud if him and amazed at his adaptability. I think in the next few weeks he'll get even more comfortable in school and in the new house and he's really going to love California. He already loves having so much family around - he just adores all of the attention and they are happy to give it to him. And I've really loved being able to spend so much time with him since I am working from home now. We've had a lot of fun enjoying the gorgeous Cali weather! Here are some pictures of some of the fun he's had since we've been here...
ME AND THE HUBS
I really think that if we can get through this move we can get through anything. With everything that's been going on Christian and I haven't been able to spend much time together. But we know there is light at the end of the tunnel and we're taking it all in stride. We're so excited to meet the baby and have our little family together. The next week will be nice just spending time together as a family....regardless of getting no sleep. So as soon as we can, we'll post pictures of the baby when he arrives. Stay tuned...
