Crawling, Mama and Mimi & Papa

Fun with Mimi & Papa! Our big night out in the city....we were home by 8pm!! Boy how Mom & Joey's visits have changed.

Mom and Joey came to visit for five days last week! I can honestly say it was one of the best visits we have ever had. They got to spend some really priceless quality time with Jack. They also got to see him change right before their eyes, as well as take his 7 month photos. I was so happy to see our little boy being loved by family - it's something we miss out on because we love so far away. But we made the most of our time - We laughed a lot and ate great food all weekend. Then after Jack went to bed we stayed up late watching the Olympics - it really was a wonderful time. We all miss them so much already.

Jack was in rare form. We think he was saving up all of his tricks for them because in the few days that they were here, he accomplished so many milestones! The biggest one was that he officially started sitting up on his own for long periods of time. The day they got here, he could only sit for a few seconds at a time. By the time they left, he could sit up for 10 minutes at a time! It was so cool.

He also made his first steps towards crawling. He can get up on all fours, lunge forward and then army crawl across the floor. Now he can go from laying down to sitting up and then crawling. It's pretty amazing - I'll post a video of it in the next post.

And the best is that he started calling me mama. He had babbled it before but I knew it didn't mean much. But now when I leave the room or when he's upset, he calls out "mama!" I just love hearing it. I was positive he would say dada first since Christian is his favorite person in the whole world. But I guess a kid just needs his mama now and then!

It was so great to have Mimi & Papa here. We can't wait for more family time coming up - my sister and her family are coming in a few weeks, then we have Easter in Chicago, followed by a trip to San Diego for Marseille's birthday. Family really warms the soul!
Since Jack is sitting up he no longer needs his car seat to ride in the stroller. I thought he'd be happier about that! We did get him a new car seat over the weekend so he'll finally be a little more comfortable in the car.

Papa Joey and Jack, in his sweet leather Jacket.

On Sunday we went to Piedmont Park to enjoy the 68 degree weather - it was such a nice change from the cold we've been having. The park was packed! We met the Day's and the Pearch's there and had a great afternoon.

Jack looks like he's trying to be too cool for school.

Jack attacking mimi. Since he got his teeth, he has taken up biting. At first I thought he was showing me affection, but then he did it to my mom. It really hurts when he gets you! Check out the video below...

I'm 7 Months Old!

I'm getting better at smiling for the camera! And I smile at strangers now. I guess I'm developing a little personality and I love to flirt with the ladies!

I turned 7 months old...3 days ago! But of course mom was out of town so she didn't have time to blog. But I had fun turning 7 anyway. Daddy and I actually met mom in Dallas last weekend so we celebrated in a new city. I got to take stay in a fancy hotel room, eat at a nice restaurant and go an Aquarium for the first time. We had some really great family time...daddy and I missed mommy so much when she was gone.

I've changed a lot this month and mommy always says she wants to freeze time so I stay this age forever. But as much as she wants to fight it, things are happening quickly - I now have three teeth and one more on the way. So I've started eating finger foods. I LOVE organic apple puffs and diced bananas! And I can sit up all by myself now - I even use a big boy high chair at restaurants now. When I'm upset I call for my mama...even though daddy is my favorite, when I am sad I want my mommy.

And the biggest news is that I am just days away from crawling. I can get up on my hands and knees and lunge forward. I keep telling the rents it's time to baby proof the house because I'm about to get my hands on everything!! Mom and dad say it's good that I am getting more independent because I will be starting daycare in about a week. Mommy's nervous but I am really excited to play with some other kids and sing songs. I'll let you know how it goes.

This has been a big weekend for us - Mimi and papa came in from California and I was so excited to see them. I'll make sure mommy blogs next week so we can tell you all of our fun stories. And I took my 7 month pictures today. I was supposed to take them at 6 months but I was really sick that week. I think I was pretty cute because everybody was telling me I was! The pictures turned out great and I can't wait to show them off. So check back soon, mommy has lots to blog about...I hope she keeps up with it better :)

Here I am stiitng up all by myself! I love the view from up here!!

Mommy plays airplane with me and it cracks me up.

Cold chillin on a Sunday afternoon watching some Sports Center with dad.

I have three teeth to brush now and I love it the taste of the toothpaste. Notice how red my face was - I was really sick that day.

Mommy went to Dallas to work for the NBA All Star Week so daddy and I met her there. We went to the Brand Jordan consumer space to check out dad's favorite player - Michael Jordan. It was pretty cool to see all his old shoes and stuff.

We also went to the Dallas Aquarium. It was pretty dumpy but we always manage to have fun. I can't wait to go the the awesome Georgia Aquarium some day!

Think mom and dad need to baby proof?! I've been working on this thing for about 2 weeks!

Where did my baby go?!

Does this look like a 6 1/2 month old baby to you? As you can see Jack barely fits into his infant car seat....it's time for a new one!

I feels like overnight my newborn baby has turned into a rough and tough little boy! He has changed so much since turning 6 months. It makes me yearn for the days of him nuzzling up and sleeping on my chest. Now he prefers to bite my chin as a sign of affection...which hurts a lot now that he has teeth. Speaking of teeth, Jack got his second tooth on the bottom and we can also see the top ones forming.

He's currently 95th percentile for height and 90th for weight. At our last doctors appointment he weighed 20 pounds and measured 29 inches!! I couldn't believe it. But I did get a glimpse of my little baby in there because he cried the entire time we were at the pediatricians...he wanted nothing to do with the exam table, the eye test, Dr. Weiss and especially the shots. Poor little guy, he just cried and cried. And I was flying solo since daddy was on a business trip - not fun for me.

Last weekend he started Wamba Land - the day care at our church. The teachers said he was great but never cracked a smile...surprise, surprise! But they did say he ate every last drop of his food. Of course! Jack eats anything we put in front of him - peas, squash, the remote, my hair, you name it.

Jack is a very physical little guy. When he toots or pees on me, he looks at me and laughs. And he loves to rough house with his daddy and is now rolling all over the house. He rolls into everything and bumps his head but he never really cries about it. He's starting to sit up for longer stretches at a time and he tries so hard to crawl to reach his toys. It will be any day now. But he's not just physically advancing, he's also learning cause and affect. Today we watched him pull all of the circles off his stacker to get to the base. He loves putting that base in his mouth and figured out a way to get to it free by pulling everything off of it. I know it's silly but we were so excited and proud. We think he's a genius!

And finally, Jack had his first big boy play date with his buddy Grant. We went over to Kate and Matt's for dinner last Saturday and let the boys hang out. Grant was showing Jack the ropes and crawling all around and over him. At first Jack didn't know what to think and sort of whined, but then he joined in the fun. At one point they even had a little conversation. We have no idea what they were saying but it was adorable! They're going to be best buds one day.

I love putting Jack in clothes that look like an adult would wear. He looks thrilled too, doesn't he? The truth is, Jack HATES to wear clothes at all!

Jack and Grant on their first plat date. I loved watching Jack interact with another little boy. We're trying to get him prepped for day care.

Grant is the sweetest little guy...and so photogenic. Not really sure what Jack is doing here! Maybe he was mad that I took a picture of him with barf on his shirt.

Jack loves to wrestle with his daddy! I'm slowly getting used to having a boy and trying not to be nervous all the time that he's going to crack his head open.

Like I said, the kid will eat anything!

I'm 6 Months Old....4 days ago!

Here I am at 6 months old! Mommy's excited because I have enough hair to comb into a "do."

Well folks, I am half way to 1 year old! What a fun 6 months it has been. I'm really enjoying life these days. I love to play, smile and laugh and I even let mom and dad capture it all on film. I roll all over the place and the rents know its time to baby proof the house because I'll be crawling very soon.

I have fun with all my new toys but really my favorite thing to do is hang out with mom and dad - we play, sing and mom does silly dances to make me laugh. And Dad and I like to "rough house" as he calls it. So I show them my affection now with lots of slobbery open mouth kisses! They love it!

Mom and dad both left me for the first time last weekend when they went to Cancun for Uncle Jess & Aunt Donna's wedding. I know they missed me because they called 4 times a day and we skyped every day. I missed them too but I had a great time with my Gigi who came in from Chicago to stay with me. She is so sweet and loves me a lot. I hope I didn't tire her out too much. I can't wait to see her again very soon!

Ok, I have to go to bed now...I have my 6 month check up tomorrow and I am getting shots! Mom has to do it all alone because dad is in Vegas for work. I'm sure she will cry more than I do. Mom and dad guess I am at least 20 pounds now seeing as I wear 12-18 month clothing! I'll post my new stats after the appointment. I wonder if I am still off the charts?

Thanks for watching me grow these past 6 months! Until next time...

Mommy makes me pose for all of these photo shoots...

...but all I want to do is eat the book.

Sunday was a rough day for Mommy because her beloved Chargers broke her heart AGAIN in the post season. She yelled at the TV a lot that night. But we still support the Team, as demonstrated by my Chargers track suit from Mimi and Papa.

My new favorite thing to do is bite mommy and daddy on the nose and chin. But now that I have a tooth I think it hurts them a little.

I got so many new toys for Christmas but I LOVE playing with this $3 toothbrush!

I'm a big boy and now fit into my front facing jogging stroller. I love taking walks with mom.... well, actually, mommy walks and I nap.

Gigi took care of me while mommy and daddy were in Cancun! We had so much fun taking walks, playing peek-a-boo and enjoying the gorgeous Atlanta weather. We definitely bonded and I miss her already.

Here is mommy and her family at Uncle Jess & Aunt Donna's wedding in Cancun. They said it was a gorgeous wedding. I hope they take me to the beach the next time they go!

The Sandoval's! We all love our new Aunt Donna and hope she and Uncle Jess make me lots of new cousins!!

Teeth, Travel & Tickles!

Jack's First Tooth!! Ok, so this isn't the best picture in the world but if you look closely you can see his lower left front tooth. It was impossible to get a good picture because all Jack wanted to do it eat my thumb.

As you may have guessed by the title that Jack has his first tooth in! The tooth has been teasing us for a while and just seemed to pop up yesterday. Now we have to be more careful about keeping our fingers near his mouth because that sucker really hurts when he bites. But it's just so adorable. It's funny how a single tooth can create such an excitement in the house. But with every milestone we feel our buddy turning into his own little person and we know that each new experience leads to the next....that one little tooth will help him chew the cheerios he will get to eat soon and one day he'll put that tooth under his pillow for the tooth fairy. I just find it all so precious. And I know it's just his body's natural progression, but I am still so proud of my kid!

I had my first business trip since having Jack. I had to fly to be in Dallas from Sunday to Tuesday and I was really dreading it. But I have to say it wasn't as bad as I thought. I had images of Jack crying as I left the house and then me driving to the airport, barely able to see through all the tears. Not so much. When I left he was eating and could hardly pull himself away from the bottle for two seconds to give me a hug. And I left him in the most loving hands of his daddy so there was no need to worry. The trip went great and I actually had that feeling that I was back to my old self again - it felt good. But by Tuesday morning I was DYING to get home. Jack didn't even notice I was gone but I was so happy to get my hands on him and give him a squeeze. We're headed to Cancun this weekend so we are leaving Jack with Gigi. Now that I have one trip under my belt I feel like I can handle this one. We'll miss him terribly, but I know Gigi will take great care of him.

You know, it's so true what they say....your child's laugh is the best sound in the world. I just can't get enough of it. Jack has this deep, infectious little belly laugh and once we get him going it just gets better. So I thought I'd send you off with a video of mommy making baby Jack crack up. I love how he goes from Captain Serious to laughing then right back to Captain Serious. He's a funny kid. We like to call this one Tickle Monster...

I love that when he's done, he's really done!

Snow Day 2010!

Here's our little snow bear in his adorable fleece suit. You wouldn't know by looking at him, but he really is having a good time.

We enjoyed our first (and probably last) snowfall of the season. It's hilarious how the media turns a few flurries into the "Ice Event of 2010." Everything gets shut down...I went shopping at an outdoor shopping center near my house tonight and all the stores closed early due to the weather. It's too much.

In any case, we always enjoy it, especially this Cali girl who grew up wearing shorts on Christmas Day. I truly hate the cold but I love ONE beautiful snowfall each year. Plus, it was baby Jack's first feeling of snow on his cute little face...unless you count last March when he was in my belly.

He actually LOVES being outside in the cold. We stayed out there for about 15 minutes and he didn't cry a bit. I'm scared he's turning into a cold weather baby. Enjoy a few pics of our fun in the "snow."

Jack's First Christmas!

Jack's First Christmas! He was our special gift from God this year. We are so blessed to be his parents.

We changed things up a bit this year and decided not to travel for Christmas. We were are little sad and apprehensive about being alone for the holiday but it turned out to be wonderful. Of course we missed seeing family, but it was so nice not to hassle with airports, traffic and bah-hum-bug travelers!

Even though Jack didn't understand what was going on, he was so precious all week. Maybe it was the new organic peas or the wrapping paper he could eat. But I like to think it was the fact that mommy and daddy were home with him for 2 weeks. It was awesome family time!

I originally thought we would celebrate at home, just the three of us, but it turns out people love to adopt the strays around the holidays. We kicked off the festivities with a lovely Christmas Eve dinner at my boss Mary Lynne's house. It was a hodge podge of family, friends, neighbors, great food and lots of good wine, which made for a fun night! Jack showed his appreciation by peeing on Mary Lynn's duvet cover. That's our boy!

We woke up on a chilly Christmas morning, opened gifts and then made a big ole breakfast. It was nice to wake up in our own bed and spend a quiet morning with our little man. Then we got it together and headed to my friend Sarah's parents house for a bit. We brought over Peach Bellini's and enjoyed a cocktail hour with them. Finally, we finished the night with an Italian dinner at my other boss, Lisa's house. We played games and Christian helped put together a bike for her 7 year old daughter Sophie. He's a sucker for little girls.

We capped off the holiday with a visit from Gigi and Papa who made the trip from Chicago. They stayed for four days and bonded with Jack. Gigi had fun playing with Jack and feeding him his sweet potatoes, which Papa then taught him to spit out. Thanks a lot Don! But he did put together Jack's new jumparoo so we can't be too mad at him. It was so great that they were able to come and spend quality time with Jack. We were sad to see them go but Gigi will be back in a few days to watch Jack while we are in Cancun for Jess & Donna's wedding.

So overall it was a memorable and fun Christmas. But by far the best part was just having Jack with us. We feel like we are starting life all over and now we get to see the world through his eyes. It's an amazing feeling to have all of these new experiences with him.

Whew! That was a mouthful! Sorry for the epic post. I guess that what happens when I only post every two weeks. I promise to get better in the new year...famous last words. Enjoy a few pictures from Jack's first Christmas....

Christmas Morning! Jack woke up a little grumpy - how appropriate are those PJ's! And I'm loving the drool on the sheet - he takes after his mommy.

After he woke up a bit, we changed him into these adorable jammies, courtesy of his Aunt Patricia.

Santa definitely stopped at the David house!

Jack met his first dog on Christmas Day. This is Sarah's awesome dog Timber.

We forced Jack into his Indians Jersey just for Papa's sake. But it was worth it because we got this priceless picture!

Jack in his new jumparoo. He didn't love it at first but it's growing on him. He would rather eat the green cords than jump.
